- Pick a name, it has to be in English, Kurdish, or Arabic. It needs to have a meaning and also not to be taken by anyone else. If in the future you intend to open a branch in Federal Iraq, then you shouldn’t use an English name.
- Have all your documents ready. ID, and Information card for locals. Residence permit & passport, if expat.
- Apply for a biometric report, to prove that you’re not an employee in the private sector.
- Hire a smart lawyer to ensure all the paperwork is done correctly. Give him/her a power of attorney
- Find out and pick what service industry you want to work in (General Trading, Travel & Tourism, etc.)
- Rent an office, make sure the property is tax compliant.
- Decide on how much you want the company's capital to be worth. It usually starts at 1,000,000 IQD, which you have to deposit to a public bank (can be withdrawn the next day). This amount depends on what service industry you pick, and what type of projects you want to take in the future.
- You have to pay 350,000 IQD in government fees in order to get the company certificate.
- Other costs to consider are: lawyer fees, lawyer support document, accountant support document, inspection fees, and drafting minutes of meeting
